DELE

Through an agreement between the University of Granada and the Cervantes Institute, students can take the necessary tests for the Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), known as the DELE.

There are four levels:

  • Basic level
  • Intermediate level
  • High-intermediate level
  • Superior level

Achieving this Diploma provides an official and internationally recognised accreditation of a student's level of competence and command of the Spanish language. It is awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

Exam sittings are normally in May and November. The University organises preparation courses aimed at students who wish to take these exams. These courses last for 20 hours over approximately 2 weeks. They are specially tailored towards preparing for taking the test in the best possible conditions. They last for 2 weeks (20 hours, 2 hours of class per day) and they are scheduled so that the end of the course coincides with sitting the exam.

Requirements: you must be a citizen of a country where Spanish is not an official language, or else you must be a national of a Spanish-speaking country and resident in a state where Spanish is not an official language.
